von Trapp Brewing was founded in 2010 in Stowe, Vermont by Sam von Trapp. Sam conceived of the brewerry with his father, Johannes, who was the youngest son of Georg and Maria von Trapp, of The Sound of Music fame. The family was initially reluctant to capitalize on the von Trapp family name, and originally went under the name Trapp Lager. However in 2015 they opened a new facility and renamed the brewery Von Trapp Brewing.
