Westbrook Brewing was founded by Edward and Morgan Westbrook in 2010 in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The two met in college, where Morgan encouraged Edward to begin homebrewing. The couple began throwing parties with their homebrewed beer, and charged guests $5 a pint. The two moved to Mt. Pleasant to be closer to their families, and started the brewery shortly before getting married. Their anniversary beer, called Mexican Cake, is a version of the beer they brewed for their wedding reception. The brewery now distributes beer throughout the Southeast, as well as into New York and continental Europe. Around 2014, they started shifting their focus from distribution to their taproom, and later expanded their facilities to accommodate more guests. Edward and Morgan still own the brewery to this day.
