Weyerbacher Brewery was founded in 1995 in Easton, Pennsylvania by Dan and Sue Weirback. The brewery was a pioneer in the craft beer movement in the state, and at the time of its founding was the only brewery in the Lehigh Valley. Weyerbacher Brewery was originally based out of a livery stable that had been repurposed for production. In 2001, the Weirbacks moved the company into a 30,000 square foot warehouse on the edges of Easton. The expansion proved costly, however, and forced Weyerbacher to take on debt.

The brewery’s fame grew, however, and by 2018 it had launched a partnership with White Castle to become their exclusive beer sponsor, meaning Weyerbacher would be on tap in 400 White Castle Stores. Nonetheless, the company’s debt continued to grow, and by 2019 it had amassed nearly $5 million in obligations. That year, it filed for bankruptcy. A Philadelphia-based investment company named 1518 Holdings initially put up an offer to purchase 55% of the company, but later backed out of the deal. Instead, the company’s president, Josh Lampe, put together a deal to have his trust, along with TWF Trust, each take 40% of the company, while 7 other investors (including the Weirbacks) share the remaining 20%.

Unable to turn around its fate, the company again declared bankruptcy in 2022, and was bought this time by Savant Beverages, a new company owned by Edwin Lozano, a former Miller Brewing executive.
