Wise Man Brewing Company was founded in 2017 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina by Sam Victory, Mike Beverly and Jason Morehead. The three were friends who lived in the same neighborhood, and began discussing starting a brewery together when Victory would host them in his garage with some of his homebrewed beer. Victory holds a doctorate in chemistry, and began brewing years before in 2005.

The three partners quickly found the Angelo Brothers Wholesale Supplies building in downtown Winston-Salem, a 90 year old structure that had been sitting vacant for about a decade. They spent more than two years renovating the space, completely gutting the interior and rebuilding the roof, as well as adding an array of solar panels on top.

The brewery quickly gained popularity, and grew by 81% percent during 2020 despite the Covid shutdown and the challenges that brought. The beer can now be found throughout North Carolina.
