Anheuser-Busch Adding Busch Light Lime
December 14, 2024 – Anheuser-Busch is showing plans to add another fruited brand extension to its Busch brand, according to an application filed last week with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.
Busch Light Lime is the third such extension for the brand, after the release of Busch Light Peach in 2022, and Busch Light Apple in 2020. While Peach is still in production, Apple was discontinued despite outcry from some of the brand’s fans online.
The online filing indicates that the new flavor will initially be available in 12 oz cans, similar to the previous Busch Light flavors. Though if past is precedent, it’s possible the beer will also be available in AB InBev’s signature 25oz cans.
First created in 1955, Busch is Anheuser-Busch’s leader in the value beer segment. The beer came about after the company’s CEO, August Busch, Jr., wanted to name the ballpark of the St. Louis Cardinals “Budweiser Stadium.” However, Major League Baseball rules prohibited naming rights going to an alcohol brand, and instead it was named Busch Stadium. The Busch beer brand followed two years later.
Busch Light, now the flagship beer in the Busch brand family, was introduced in 1989.
