The Boston Beer Company was created in 1984 by Jim Koch and Rhonda Kallman. Their first flagship brand was Sam Adams Boston Lager, but since then they have expanded into ciders, flavored malt beverages, and other craft. In the 2010s they purchased Angel City Brewery and Coney Island Brewing, and in 2019 they expanded significantly with the purchase of Dogfish Head Brewing.
