What does RUSSIAN FEDERATION Own?
The Russian Federation spent many of its early years selling off nationalized breweries that were previously held by the Soviet Union. During the early 21st century, it did not operate any state-owned breweries. However, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, pressure was placed on Western international companies to dissolve their assets in Russia. Carlsberg Group, which owned Baltika Brewery Holdings, attempted to sell those assets in 2023, and before a deal could emerge, Russia seized the Baltika brewery and brand under the guise of Carlsberg being associated with “Unfriendly countries.”
