What does SAZERAC CO Own?

Sazerac Company is a family of spirit brands based in Metairie, Louisiana. It was started in 1869 when Thomas H. Handy purchased the Sazerac Coffee House, which imported the cognac brand Sazerac de Forge. The company began acquiring and starting more brands of spirits, and by the 20th century it had expanded significantly. In 1984, William Goldring began buying shares of the company, and now he and his family own it in its entirety as a private enterprise. In 1989 the company acquired several brands from Seagram, and in 2018 it purchased several more from Diageo. In 2021, it began producing malt based versions of some of its popular brands, including Parrot Bay, and 99 Brand. Southern Comfort malt beverages, however, are produced through an agreement with Anheuser-Busch InBev.
