Taiwan’s beer is produced by Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation, a bureau of the Taiwanese government. In 1946, Chinese nationalists took over the government of Taiwan, and nationalized its breweries. Takasago was renamed to Taiwan Beer, and was organized under the Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau. In 2002, it was renamed to more accurately reflect its offerings.
