Grayton Beer Company was founded in 2011 in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida by Jamey Price and his wife Candace, who owned 79 percent of the company, along with minority partners Teresa Palmer and Geoffery Chick. In 2020, Jamey Price left his role as President of the company after a lawsuit by the minority partners alleged that he violated his fiduciary responsibility the company. The lawsuit alleges that the Prices established a limited liability corporation for the brewpub side of the business which used funds from the brewery, as well as a grant awarded to the brewery, to support itself, with profits going solely to the Prices. The lawsuit was settled, but as part of the deal Price agreed to step down.
