Harvey’s Brewery was founded in Lewes, England in 1820 by John Harvey. Harvey was an alcohol distributor from London, but moved to Lewes in 1790. After establishing his business there, he added beer production to expand his enterprise. The company was renamed Harvey & Sons in 1851 when Harvey’s sons Henry, Edwin, and William came aboard. They soon added pubs to their portfolio, and to date the business has 45 pubs mostly in the Sussex area. The company is still owned by descendants of John Harvey.
