Julius Echter Beer was introduced by Würzburger Hofbräu in Würzburg, Germany in 1992. At the time, the brewery was owned by the von Finck family, but in 2005 they sold their stake to Kulmbacher Brewery, which is majority owned by the Schörghuber Gruppe.
