By the 21st century, the brand was one of the most popular in Argentina, and in 2002 the Brazilian company AmBev purchased a 37.5% stake in the business in a deal that was valued at $600 million. In 2004, AmBev merged with Belgian company Interbrew to become InBev, and in 2006 the new company increased its share of Quilmes to 91% with an additional investment of $1.2 billion.
