Estrella Jalisco was firsted created by Cervecería Estrellain Guadalajara, Jalisco in 1910. It was purchased by Grupo Modelo in 1954. In 2013, Grupo Modelo was purchased by Anheuser-Busch InBev, a Belgian-Brazilian multinational beverage and brewing company. While rights to sell most of the Modelo products in the United States were sold to Constellation to avoid antitrust issues, Estrella was not yet available for purchase outside of Mexico, and as a result global rights were retained by AB InBev.
