Although the company remains active as a beer distributor, it halted production in 1956. The George Killian’s brand name was purchased by French brewery Pelforth, who licensed rights to the name in the United States to Coors in 1981. Pelforth was purchased by Heineken in 1988. In 2005, Coors merged with Molson, Inc to become Molson Coors.
