Mocaf is a brand of beer created in 1951 in Bangui, Central African Republic by Bertrand Motte. It stands for Brasserie Motte Cordonnier Afrique. In 1993, it was purchased by Groupe Castel. The brewery has faced attacks from the Russian mercenery Wagner Group, who has launched a campaign attempting to link Mocaf to French imperialism and blame them for strife in the Central African Republic. In March 2023, Wagner employees burned down much of their main brewery in an arson attack. Wagner has also created a competing brewery called Africa Ti L’Or, which markets itself as Russian inspired and anti-Western.
