What does GROUPE CASTEL Own?

Groupe Castel is a French wine and beer business established by Pierre Castel in 1949, and still owned by him. It began as a wine merchant in Bordeaux, and expanded in scope year by year. In 1990, the company began purchasing breweries in Africa, beginning with Brasseries et Glacières Internationales. It now holds about 25% of the African beer market. In 2022, it faced investigations and signficant criticism for alleged complicity in war crimes in the Central African Republic.
