Old Milwaukee was created in the 1930s by Schlitz Brewing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1982, Schlitz was acquired by Stroh Brewing, which focused on the brand until 1999 when it was sold to Pabst Brewing. At the same time, rights to the brand in Canada were sold to Sleeman Breweries. In 2006, Sleeman was purchased by Sapporo.
