SAPPORO BREWERY

What does SAPPORO BREWERY Own?

Sapporo was created in 1876 in the city of Sapporo, Japan by Seibei Nakagawa. In 1906 it merged with rival breweries Nippon and Osaka (now Asahi) to form Dai-Nippon Beer Company. The firm split in 1949 into Nippon and Asahi. Nippon renamed itself to Sapporo in 1964. In 2006, it purchased Sleeman Breweries in Ontario for $400 million. They’ve also purchased Stone Brewing in San Diego as well as Anchor Brewing in 2023 (which it has since closed).
