The Sparks brand was created in 2001 by the McKenzie River Corporation as an energy drink with alcohol that gained popularity among young adults. In 2006, the brand was purchased by SABMiller, along with Steel Reserve, for $215 million. In 2008, SABMiller and Molson Coors Brewing Company formed a joint operation in the united states called MillerCoors LLC. When SABMiller was purchased by Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2016, SABMiller’s stake in the joint venture was sold to Molson Coors to satisfy regulators.
