Crabbie’s Ginger Beer traces its roots back to the mid-nineteenth century, when John Crabbie acquired a porter brewery in Edinburgh, Scotland. The company began making ginger wine, as well as other fruit cordials. In the 1980s, the company was sold to Macdonald & Muir, which renamed itself to The Glenmorangie Company in 1996 after its most popular product. In 2007, Halewood International purchased the Crabbie’s brand from Glenmorangie, and began making Crabbie’s Ginger beer two years later. Halewood International changed their name to Halewood Artisanal Spirits in 2021.
