Cerveza Mexicali was founded in Mexicali, Baja California in 1923 by Heraclio Ochoa and Miguel González Quiroz. In 1960, the company was purchased by Grupo Modelo. Grupo Modelo was purchased by Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2013, and while all of its brands that were then exported to the United States had to be sold off to Constellation Brands, Mexicali was at that point only brewed domestically. Anheuser-Busch InBev briefly imported the brand to the US beginning in 2018, but the whole brand was discontinued the following year.
