Old Mout Cider was founded in 1947 in Nelson, New Zealand by Wanda Tait, who developed a passion for cider after going on a backpacking trip through England. The company was later sold to Bulmer’s, which in 2003 was purchased by Scottish & Newcastle for £278 million. Five years later, Heineken and Carlsberg jointly purchased Scottish & Newcastle and split up its brands between themselves; Old Mout was granted to Heineken.
