The UFO beer brand was created in the year 1998 in Boston, Massachusetts by the Harpoon Brewery, whose parent company is Mass. Bay Brewing Company. Although the branding is decidedly alien-themed, the company claims UFO stands for “UnFiltered Offering.” In 2014, Mass. Bay Brewing launched an employee stock ownership program.
