Website

Windhoek beer was first brewed in Windhoek, Namibia in 1920, when Carl List and Hermann Ohlthaver purchased four breweries and merged them under the name South West Breweries Limited. When Namibia became independent in 1990, the brewery changed its name to Namibia Breweries Limited. The company began working closely with Heineken South Africa, and eventually purchased a 25% stake in the Heineken subsidiary. In 2023, Heineken International swallowed NBL, along with fellow Namibian brewery Distell, for $4.6 billion.
