Monster Beverage Corporation was founded in 1935 in California as Hansen’s by Hubert Hansen. It later renamed to Hansen’s Juices and then The Fresh Juice Company of California. In 1988 it filed for bankruptcy and was acquired by the California CoPackers Corporation and renamed Hansen Natural Company. As Monster Energy Drink became a larger and larger part of their portfolio, they changed their name to Monster Beverage Corporation in 2012. In 2015, Coca Cola purchased a 16.7% stake in the company, which has since risen to 19.3%. The company entere the beer industry in 2022 with the purchase of CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective for $330 million, followed by the purchase of Vital Pharmaceuticals (maker of Bang Energy Drinks and hard seltzers) in 2023.
